Join us this Lent 2025

Everyone makes a personal and unique journey during these ‘40 days and 40 nights’. We start with our call to pray, fast and give alms. How might you join in this and how could St Patrick’s be part of that journey

Felix Project - Good food for good causes

The Felix Project rescues good, surplus food from the food industry that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste. This is high-quality and nutritious food, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish. This food is sorted and then distributed to a number of food hubs, including Our Lady of Visitation.

The Parish receives a collection every Saturday morning, which we distribute from the Old Church Hall between 12.30pm to 2pm. Food is given to anyone who comes, no questions asked. Please spread the word especially to families who you know are struggling.

Volunteers help on a rota basis with the receiving of the Felix Project delivery and the sorting of items. Saturday mornings from around 9am (for when deliveries arrive). If you would like to help or would like more information, please contact David on 07968423860.

Breakfast Club

We continue to host a breakfast morning every Saturday morning in the Parish Centre. This provides a place of welcome, conversation and a warm meal for up to 20 homeless people.  If you would like to help with this please contact the Parish Office on 0208 578 1363.

Winter Night Shelter

Each Winter we host the Winter Night Shelter. The Shelter opens on Friday evenings from supper time until after breakfast on Saturdays. We welcome any volunteers. You can contact the Parish Office or contact Mandy Hudson (mandy@[email protected]).

You can also help by donating food and drink, or offering to organise an activity for the guests.

5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

A Volunteer's Experience of the Winter Night Shelter

We all have times in our lives when we need a listening ear and a bit of positive support to start life afresh. I have been paying attention to our Sunday sermons and was inspired by our wonderful priests, to challenge myself and do something a bit out of my comfort zone. I volunteered to do several shifts at the Homeless Winter Night Shelter in our Parish Centre. I really liked the idea of giving something back to our community and doing something that makes a difference to others. I felt privileged and useful to be part of a team that was strengthening community bonds in supporting essential services needed by homeless people in our area. There was a really lovely atmosphere of real care and equality between volunteers and guests. It was really well organised and I met some really lovely people. I was lucky to be part of the overnight team. It was a calm and quiet shift to be on. The surprising thing is, I didn’t need any special skills. Simply being friendly and welcoming, opened up relaxed conversation with guests and other volunteers. I realised that small moments can make a positive, lasting impression on people, so everyone feels good and enjoys the time spent together. Well done to everyone who organised it. I’d definitely volunteer again.
